To ensure long-lasting performance and safe operation of your rocket stove, follow these guidelines for proper use, fire building, and stainless steel care.
1. Setting Up
Place the stove on a flat, stable, and fire-safe surface such as bare soil, gravel, or concrete. Keep a safe clearance of at least 3 meters (9feet) from flammable materials, including tents, dry grass, or wooden structures. Ensure stove is upright and the air intake holes are unobstructed.
2. Building the Fire
Start with small, dry kindling (twigs, sticks, or wood shavings) place a small amount into the bottom of the stoves fuel chamber. Add slightly larger sticks once the flame is fully established. Use dry hardwood if available for longer, hotter burns. Avoid overloading. Maintain space in the fuel chamber for airflow-the stove is designed to create a natural draft. Too much wood will choke the air supply and reduce efficiency. Feed wood gradually from top opening, allowing for a controlled combustion.
Tip: Proper combustion happens when there's a clean, hot flame with minimal smoke. This means the air-to-fuel ratio is ideal.
3. Cooking
Only use flat-bottomed stainless steel or cast iron cookware that fits safely on top of the stove. Avoid using oversized pots that could block airflow or make the stove unstable. Never leave the stove unattended while in use.
4. Safety Precautions
The stove becomes extremely hot during use. Always use heat-resistant gloves when handling any part of the stove or cookware. Allow the stove to cool completely before moving or storing. Never quench the hot stove with water, as this will cause damage. Do not use indoors or in enclosed spaces-this stove was designed FOR OUTDOOR USE ONLY.
5. Cleaning & Maintenance
After each use, empty out cold ash and debris to maintain proper airflow and performance. Do not use abrasive cleaners or steel wool. Instead, clean the stainless steel surfaces with warm water, mild soap, and a soft cloth. If soot or discoloration develops (which is normal), it can be removed with a non-abrasive stainless steel cleaner or a paste of baking soda and water. Store the stove in a dry place to prevent moisture buildup and preserve the finish. Although stainless steel resists rust, exposure to saltwater or constant moisture may cause staining or corrosion over time.
6. Long-Term Care
For optimal long term storage, lightly oil metal surface with food-safe mineral oil. Wrap the stove in a soft cloth or storing in a sealed container to prevent scratches or dirt buildup
